The Maryland oriole season
The Baltimore Oriole is Maryland's state bird, named for the orange-and-black livery of the Calvert family, the Barons Baltimore. Fittingly, both eastern orioles breed throughout the state — Chesapeake shoreline trees and Piedmont parks alike ring with their whistles from late April.
